Courtney & Ryan | Engaged | Boston Public Gardens

We met up with Courtney and Ryan this past weekend in downtown Boston on Newbury Street and walked up and around Commonwealth Avenue and the Boston Public Gardens. The tulips and cherry blossoms were out in full force and they just added such an extra bit of amazing color to their pics. I only wish they were up all summer long. Courtney and Ryan are getting married this summer at the Intercontinental Hotel Boston.

Erin & Dan | Engaged | SOWA Open Market

A BIG congrats to Erin, Dan, and their super cute Maltese Chihuahua mix “Winnie”! Winnie was definitely the big star at the SOWA Open Market as she was stopped by everyone to meet her. Dan and Erin frequently walk over to the indoor/outdoor market located on Harrison St. from their home in the South End… so we met up there to do some quick pics for their engagement. They will be getting married next year at the Boston Public Library!

Jessica & Scott | Engaged | North End

One of our FAVORITE couples, Jessica (managing editor of grace ormonde WEDDING STYLE magazine) & Scott (her uber cool fiance), got engaged last year in the North End of Boston. Scott proposed right next to the fountain located in the Paul Revere Mall by the Old North Church, they then headed to dinner at Florentine Cafe and topped off the evening with Mike’s Pastry! So we made it an afternoon to shoot with them in their favorite neighborhood of Boston and make some images memorable of their day. Congrat’s you guys! We are so Happy for you and can’t wait for the big day!!!!!!

Kellie & Dave | Engaged | Lanes & Games

It’s MPP and I am so psyched to be blogging!! It was about time :-)!

So here it goes… I often get asked where couples should go to for their engagement session and what they should wear. Thanks to Kellie and Dave for helping me answer this question!! I always tell couples that they should go somewhere / do something that is meaningful to them. Although parks and beaches are great, engagement photos should be fun and allow a couples personalities to shine through.

Kellie and Dave decided to go to Lanes and Games in Cambridge where they had their first date back in May of 06. When Kellie and I talked on the phone prior to the shoot, I asked her what she had in mind and she it had to be something fun. “My first question was, “Where was your first date?” She said “We went bowling”. Immediately this location was a no brainer.

She then asked me for “Any suggestions on what to wear?” Something FUN and something you feel comfortable in. I wouldn’t make someone who normally doesn’t wear a dress wear one, because they will be uncomfortable and who wants to be photographed in something that doesn’t make them feel good? So ladies… think, fun, colorful and something that makes YOU feel fabulous. Also, feel free to bring a change of clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc… as it’s always better to have choices once you get there.

Lauren & Dan | Engaged | Gibbet Hill Farm

We caught up with Lauren and Dan at Gibbet Hill Farm where they will be getting married next spring. And after rescheduling their engagement shoot at least three times (remember we only had 3 days of sun in June) we finally landed the perfect late June afternoon. But of course there were still hickups, and not friendly ones at that. During the shoot we all managed to get: zapped by electrified fences, stuck in ankle deep mud (Maria :-0), angry looks from mad cows, and bitten by every bug in the book. Did I mention the bugs? So many thanks to Lauren and Dan for being such good sports and having a blast with us. Can’t wait to do it all over again in April!

Kaitlin & Chris | Engaged | Faneuil Hall

Not only did I have so much fun shooting with Kaitlin and Chris, working on this little still clip video was a blast to do as well. While I was editing their engagement pics, I realized that there were more than enough photos to create this moving still video clip. The idea had always been in my head ever since the advent of the digital screen on the backs of our cameras. Whenever I scroll thru shots quickly it reminds me of moving video. So finally, I had the right shoot that it just clicked and I thought let’s do this. It took me about a day and a half to complete but was well worth it.

Production Notes: While I shot these photos with my Canon 5D Mark II, this is 100% from the still clips as I did not use the HD video mode. About 75 percent of this engagement shoots photographs are are in this video. The custom music is from www.Neosounds.com.

Obviously a fun “loving” couple, they met overseas in New Zealand while Kaitlin studied abroad there. Kaitlin & Chris are getting married this July at the Seaport Hotel on the South Boston Waterfront, and we can’t wait to actually photograph their big day! Now is the pressure on to put together another video of sorts :-) ???
