Erin & Dan | Engaged | SOWA Open Market

A BIG congrats to Erin, Dan, and their super cute Maltese Chihuahua mix “Winnie”! Winnie was definitely the big star at the SOWA Open Market as she was stopped by everyone to meet her. Dan and Erin frequently walk over to the indoor/outdoor market located on Harrison St. from their home in the South End… so we met up there to do some quick pics for their engagement. They will be getting married next year at the Boston Public Library!

Zanna | Singer + Songwriter | Boston Musician Portraits

We had the pleasure of taking some relaxed photographs with musician singer/songwriter ‘Zanna’ early this summer. She is a recent graduate of Boston’s Berklee College of Music and truly has an exceptionally beautiful voice. Our conversation led us to chat about and schedule a photoshoot. Zanna turned me onto an abandoned train trestle right in Boston. I probably have driven by it a thousand times but never knew existed. I must admit that even though the tracks are not in use, I must have looked over my shoulder every other minute. We finished up our late summer afternoon shoot at the Harvard T station where I learned that the T police are nice but not all to excited about having a photoshoot take place during rush hour.

Brian & Maria | Anniversary | Davis Sq.

Yup, that’s us!

We (Maria) decided that it would be cool to be on the other side of the lens for our six year anniversary this past August. Why not? Knowing how it feels to get your picture taken could only help us when shooting our clients, and did I mention that it was Maria’s idea? We choose the funky urban setting of Davis Sq. in Cambridge, and none other than the extremely talented Margaret Singer to photograph us. Her hip and modish style was the perfect fit for both us and the location. Maria also called upon Orly of Tangerine Creations for the bouquet and boutonniere as well as Katrina Hess for her makeup.

POWEREX | AA Batteries | Maha Energy Corp.

How many photographers both professional and amateur (non-photogs to!) still buy disposable AA batteries?  Not only are they a complete waste of money, but you have to throw them out after one or two uses.  And we all know this is not exactly good for the environment OR your wallet!

So after a guest at a wedding this past weekend asked me about how my flash recycled so quickly and in such a dark room,  I decided to give a quick plug  about PowerEx batteries from the Maha Energy Corporation.  I have been using them since 2004 and they just rock.  One set of 4 AA batteries in my Canon 580EXII flash can easily last a wedding reception on top of my camera without having to change.  And the recycle time is fast, super fast!  These are ultra high capacity batteries and have no memory so you can charge them anytime.

I own 8 sets of 2700 mAh rechargeable batteries, and this easily gets me thru a weekend with two weddings.  I also have the 8 cell 1 hour charger.  Charger is about $85 and a 4 pack of batteries is $16.  But spend a few hundred dollars now and have these batteries for the next 2 or 3 years.   I also use my older batteries from 2004 in household gadgets like TV remotes or cordless Mice.

Check out their website at www.MahaEnergy.com

Las Vegas | Published Wedding | The Knot National

Jared and Kristin’s renewal of vows has landed on the pages of one of the most popular wedding magazines on newsstands today, The Knot Weddings Magazine, 2009 / 2010 National Issue!

Last July Maria and I headed out to fabulous Las Vegas to shoot this uber cool affair and we can’t contain our excitement that it is now a nationally featured wedding. So much thought and effort went into even the smallest of details like lucky rabbits feet and casino chips for the guests to help celebrate and win at some table games! For me, the cherry red cadillac and cherub covered ceiling at The Little White Wedding Chapel (think Britney Spears circa 2004)  tied all the pictures together. Everything was just straight up fun: the cake, the mini gift suitcases, the sunglasses, Las Vegas of course…but the photos of the Bride and Groom sitting atop the cadillac alter just put the final stamp of pure coolness on this wedding!

The Knot Weddings Magazine

Here are some of their Ingredients…

Dress: Stephanie James Couture
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Ceremony: The Little White Wedding Chapel
Venue: The Bellagio
Flowers: Flowers by Semia | Providence, R.I. (yup! packed in dry ice and shipped)
Cake: Freed’s Bakery | Las Vegas
Entertainment: Rhythm Productions | John Bellagamba | Newport, R.I.
Invitations: The Perfect Details | Donna Kim

Of courses only a handful of the photos could make the pages of the magazine, so here are a few more so you can get a better idea of the day! The vintage dresses by Stephanie James Couture (both bride and maid of honor) was definitely Maria’s highlight detail, and mine, well I think it had to be the patent leather Blue shoes! Just how cool was that?!!!
